TOP LIST OF TOCHING GAY MOVIES PART 1

TOP LIST OF TOUCHING GAY MOVIES PART I

Yeah, finally after such a long time I can finish my first part of Top List of Touching gay Movies, like what some people expect. But, first thing first, I wanna say thanks to Ferdy and Auckland who give big spirit to finish my promise to them…. Thank you very much buddy.

Oke…. Then let’s start the list. Honestly, it’s hard for me to decide the top ten touching gay movies which make me spending much time to finish this first part of my blog series. Fortunately, about three days ago before I typed this article into this kind of format, I can decide the final list of touching gay movies with considering some things. So, here are the lists:

  1. Edge of Seventeen

Honestly, some people surrounding me, especially my closed friends get angry to me because places their favorite movie in the bottom position in my list. Well, no offense, this movie perhaps get many good criticism, especially for the writer Todd Stephens and the director David Moreto, but for me this movie is not really touching my heart. However, I totally agree that this movie is realistic, enjoyable, and honest since it has penetrated the soul of the times (in the 1980s). I also can feel the Stafford’s confusion, angst, vulnerability, denial and acceptance, but still it just affects me in the surface of my mind and even not get the contact with my heart. It is because the acting of the main actor’s expression was confusing me much.

Although this movie is placed in the bottom position, it doesn’t mean that this movie is something unworthy to be seen. It’s because this story of the movie is about the finding identity of gay teen named Eric in his coming age of 17. Just like I said before, this low budget movie can ring the Eric’s confusion, angst, vulnerability, denial, and acceptance so true, but not from the Chris Stafford’s expression. As the proof how worthy this movie to be seen, this movie won some award like from L.A. Outfest for the category Outstanding Narrative feature, outstanding actor in Feature Film, and Outstanding Screen writing. So, if you wanna feel the realistic movie about the process of finding identity of the coming age boy, just try to watch this movie. Link to download the movie or try this one

09. Sugar

If you think that this title represent the whole idea of the movie in pure way, change your thought immediately. Yeah this movie is far from sweet or romantic though I place this movie in the 9th position of my touching gay movies list. John Palmer movie was touching me because of the plot of the movie which uses “Everybody Needs Fix” as the tagline for his movie. And, yeah, this tagline is actually being the main idea of the movie. In short, the movie is about the relationship between Cliff, a restless suburban teen and Butch, a street hustler which changes Cliff forever. And I hope you can imagine how challenging and provocative this movie through my short explanation about the plot of the movie.

For me this low budget Canadian production showed the greatest of impact on one’s life. I can see and feel so real the lost of innocence and the different side of friendship in this movie. And yeah, I agree that Everybody Needs Fix, just like what happens to Cliff. However, because of the lack quality of Andre Noble as Cliff made me little bit disappointed and finally decided to place Sugar in the 9th position.

Actually, the director of the movie, John Palmer, knew well how to make excellent screen play but once again Noble can’t explore his character as Cliff. Fortunately, there is Brendan Fehr in this movie who can cover the low quality of Noble. Yeah, as Butch, he was so excellent in live the character which made him nominated in Genie Award as the best performance by an actor in supporting role. Link to download the movie or try this one

08. Blackmail Boy (Oxygono)

First thing first, I wanna confess that until now I can only get the main idea of the story of the movie which means I can’t get the detail parts of the movie since it’s difficult for me to find the English Subtitle of the movie. Therefore, I chose this movie being the bottom three of my list. This movie is using a small greek community to be the center problem of a storm of sexual and financial duble-dealing. Based on what I read in many reviews before I watched this movioe, I can conclude that the story of the movie is actually complex and a bit too much to follow, it does make a powerful statement about families torn apart by death, greed, and all manners of sexual disloyalties but unfortunately, the execution of Michalis R. and Thansassis P. is full of blunder.

Until now, I can’t relate the original title of the movie with the plot of the movie. And I am totally confused with the purpose of the lesson scene which talked about the respiration related to Oxygen. And tha’s being the fatal blunder from the directors in making this tragic movie. The other fatal blunder is the unclear process of how the target man of blackmail boy got the the blackmail from his companion. But, don’t worry, if you really understand this movie in details your heart will be able to feel the tragic events of the movie.

The good side of the movie which touched my heart was the wonderful acting of the cast especially the main casts of the movie. They knew exactly how to deliver the tragic situation of the movie to the audience, especially me. And because of that though I don’t understand what they’re talking about, my heart still can feel how tragic the relationship among them. Link to download the movie
